You Shall See Them no More!

We shall be looking at Zechariah 4:7 in this write up. In it, the Lord said: ‘’who are you, o great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain’’.

This is a very popular passage in the bible, which has brought succor to many troubled minds in the past. It is very comforting, and it gives assurance to all and sundry that all will be well with them at some point; the prevailing ugly circumstances notwithstanding.

Now, before we proceed any further, let us look at the word MOUNTAIN more closely so as to understand the import of this write up better. By definition, a mountain is a very high, steep hill. It can also be regarded as a large pile or quantity of something. When the ‘something’ is good then, there is no problem. Problem however arises, when it make people’s lives difficult. Examples include illness, poverty, joblessness, barrenness, ill luck, academic regression, professional inertia, divorce, and addiction.

Friend, I am very happy for you if you’ve had manageable mountains all your life; please accept my congratulations! But, if by chance you’ve had bad mountains most of the time then, I sincerely sympathize with you. Know that mountains, even though nasty, are undeniable parts of living. But God does not want them to make our lives unnecessarily difficult, and if they do, He wants them removed very quickly (Zechariah 4:7).

He wants all the restrictive mountains in your life removed as well. This He confirmed in Isaiah 41:11-13, as follows:

11. Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. 12. You shall seek them and not find them— Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing. 13. For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

From the above Friend, it is evident that your future is very bright, and that calls for celebrations. This is not the time for you to brood over past difficulties and disappointments; this is not the time for you to moan or groan; this is the time for you to rejoice!

As you continue with your life, let me encourage you with Exodus 14:13c-14, which says: 13…“Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians (i.e. the mountains) whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

So shall it be in Jesus name. Amen.

Of Economic Crunch, Job and Philippians 4:19

In Philippians 4:19, Apostle Paul said:  ‘’And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus’’.

This is a very soothing passage especially in this era of global economic crunch when many people are understandably unsure of their future.

The biblical Job was a man after God’s heart but whose interests were destroyed by Satan at some point.  That was a defining moment in his life just as the current thorny global economic crunch is a defining moment in ours.  However, in spite of his painful experiences, he comported himself sensibly throughout and relied on God for his deliverance.  He even found time to pray for his friends and as a result, God restored his losses and gave him twice as much as he had previously.

Now let us highlight some of Job’s losses vis-à-vis what the world stands to witness as a result of the present global economic predicament.  He lost his:

1.  Economic power.  Without notice, Job lost his economic power but he never stopped having faith in God’s ability to bail him out and in the end, God did.  In the same vein, many people will lose their economic power during this period of global economic crunch.  However, you will be spared if you put your trust completely in God because he shall supply all that you need to keep afloat.  In fact, where other people are recording losses, you will record profits in Jesus name.  This claim is based on what God himself declared in Isaiah 48:17.  That is:  “…I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go’’.

2.  Children.  Job lost all his children too but God restored choice children back to him later on.  Children, women and the elderly constitute the main casualties whenever there is a major catastrophe-the current global economic downturn inclusive.  But none of your children and loved ones will be affected if you put your trust unwaveringly in God as he shall supply all that you need to make them dwell in safety.  Please do not forget in this regards his Isaiah 49:25 assurance which says:  ‘’…I will contend with him (plus all detrimental situations) who contends with you, and I will save your children’’.

3.  Health.  Satan also attacked Job’s health by striking him with painful boils from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet but God delivered him eventually.  In the same manner, the current economic downturn will make many people to suffer both physical and emotional ill health.  But you will escape if you put your trust completely in God as he shall supply all that you need to stay in perfect health.  He attests to this in Exodus 15:26 when he said:  ‘’…I will put none of the diseases on you …For I am the LORD who heals you.”

4.  Honor.  Job’s honor suffered severe bashing as well but God lifted him up to the extent that he became profoundly relevant to his community, lived well and died respectably.   In like fashion, many people will have their honor severely bashed during the current global economic predicament.  But in the name of Jesus, you will be spared if you put your trust in God because he shall supply all that you need to keep your honor in one piece.  The Psalmist verified this in Psalm 91:15 as follows: ‘’He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him’’.

Friend, please do not panic in spite of the horrendous economic upheaval that is plaguing the world at the moment.  Just put your trust in the Lord continually and in the end, you will come out unscathed in Jesus name.  Amen.

Result Oriented Prayer Points

In Acts 3:1-10, Peter and John went to the temple at the hour of prayer, and at its gate called beautiful, was a man crippled from birth. Day after day, he was carried and laid down there, ostensibly to beg to keep body and soul together. When he saw Peter and John, he focused his attention on them hoping for alms as usual. But this time around, he got more than he looked forward to; he got a full-blown healing to the glory of God.

I have read this account many times in the past, and I read it again recently only to unearth some result oriented prayer points from it. They are very potent, easy to understand and easy to apply. Besides, they are capable of revolutionizing people’s prayer lives and I intend to discuss them in this write up. They are:

1. Lord, plant me in the right place, at the right time, all the time

The man was at the gate of the temple while the men of God ordained to heal him, were passing by. That was the right place for him to be at that time and he received his healing accordingly.

God also planted many people in the bible in the right places, at the right times, just to transform their lives. An excellent example was Joseph (Genesis 39-50)! At various times, he ended up in what we can call appalling situations where help was non-existent. He was sold into slavery by his brothers, bought by a strange person in a strange land, imprisoned for an offence he did not commit and snubbed by those he once assisted. But thank goodness, those were the right places and the right times earmarked by God to groom him! In the end, He catapulted him (Joseph) from prison to power, becoming second in command to Pharaoh and a channel of blessing to loads and loads of people of his generation.

Friend, if you want God to transform your life or to elevate you from where you are, to where you ought to be, then pray to Him to plant you in the right place, at the right time, all the time as from now on. He will surely answer you and your joy will be huge in Jesus name. Amen.

2. Lord, help me to focus my attention on You without wavering

The man wanted Peter and John to bless him hence; he focused his attention on them without wavering, until they blessed him with healing.

Hannah (1 Samuel 1:1-20) too, coveted a child from God after a long spell of barrenness therefore, she over looked all the insults heaped on her by Prophet Eli and Peninnah, her co-wife, and focused her attention on Him without wavering. The result was that, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, called Samuel. Similarly, Elisha (2 Kings 2:1-12) focused his attention on his master, Elijah, without wavering till he was taken away from the earth. And as a result, he got a double portion of Elijah’s anointing and went on to become a legendary Prophet of God till today.

Do you desire a miracle from God? If you do, then, pray to Him to help you to focus your attention on Him without wavering and you’ll have it at the end of the day. Please remember that those who focus their attention on God, are never disappointed (Isaiah 49:23). And you shall not be an exception in Jesus name. Amen.

3. Lord, bless me beyond my expectation

The lame man, expected not more than alms from Peter and John, but the Lord blessed him with healing instead. That without doubt, must have been beyond his expectation.

In a related development, a paralytic (Matthew 9:1-7) was brought to Jesus Christ in His own city. The bloke probably did not expect more than healing, which of course, he got. But on top of that, Jesus forgave him his sins. That was a huge one, which must have exceeded his expectation.

Friend, whenever you pray to God, ask Him to bless you with your specific heart desires. In addition, ask Him to bless you with extras, which will go beyond your expectation, so that you can run your life with ease, and bless other people as well. I am positive that He will answer you (1 John 5:14) in Jesus name. Amen.

4. Lord, clothe me with the garment of praise

After Peter and John had healed the lame man, he entered the temple-walking, leaping and praising God. And his miracle became very obvious to everyone and they were filled with amazement.

Praising God, is something that is very close to His heart and it is one of the fastest ways by which, you can attract His attention to your condition (2 Chronicles 5:13-14). And when He shows up, He will save you (Psalm 18:3) and your life will never be the same again. But let me quickly advice you here that, you are not likely to go far with praising Him by means of your own efforts alone; you sure need Him to clothe you with the garment of praise to start with (John 15:5). That is why, you need to pray to Him right now to do so, and He will in Jesus name. Amen.

Friend, so far, we’ve been able to adduce a couple of prayer points from the story narrated in Acts 3:1-10. They are very simple to use and they are capable of revolutionizing our prayer lives. I hope you will adopt them as from now on and before long, you will see yourself flourishing beyond measure in Jesus name. Amen.

Why Won’t You Prosper?

In 3 John 2, Apostle John said:

‘’Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things ….’’.

Prosperity as a subject is regularly and passionately discussed in Christendom.  It tickles many people’s fancy and nobody can blame them since God himself wants everyone to prosper.  The Psalmist attests to this fact in Psalm 35:27 when he said:

‘’Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, “Let the LORD be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”

Contrary to some people’s belief, to prosper does not connote the ability to pile up money alone.  More importantly, it connotes being able to flourish, succeed, do well or get on in all facets of life such as health, work, ministry, family and security amongst many others.  I am happy to state here that there are promises of prosperity in respect of each of these areas in the bible but we shall focus on just three of them today.  God wants us to prosper in our:

1.  Health.  Material comfort without good health amounts to nothing.  Now, if we stretch Apostle John’s declaration in 3 John 2 a little bit further, we will observe that he gave prominence to health.  Let us see how he presented his position.

‘’Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health …’’.

No wonder that God concentrates on boosting people’s health through Jesus Christ all the time.  So, if your health is imperfect these days, know that the situation is not from God.  Therefore, seize the opportunity today to ask him to prosper you in health and he will in Jesus name.  Amen.

2.  Work.  God wants all of us to work and earn decent wages so that we can take care of ourselves, our family members, his church et cetera.  He doesn’t want us to be a burden to anybody (2 Thessalonians 3:7, 8, 10).  I am therefore not surprised at his candid assurance of prosperity as it concerns our work.  In Jeremiah 31:16 he said:

“Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded….’’.

That is, our work is bound to prosper.  Please, do not worry if the state of your work is not very impressive at the moment.  The fact is, prosperity is coming your way very soon and it will impinge on your work in Jesus name.  Amen.

3.   Security.  God is unequivocally interested in the security of our lives and properties.  This is made very clear in Psalm 91:11 (Amplified bible) as follows:

‘’For he will give his angels charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways’’.

From the passage above, we can safely conclude that our security is rock solid with God.  Are you or/and somebody close to you feeling vulnerable in any area of your lives at the moment? If yes, then ask God to amplify your security in the area and he will concur in Jesus name.  Amen.

At this point, let me mention that you cannot possibly prosper if you do not do the right things first.  To begin with, you must accept Jesus Christ into your life as your personal Lord and Savior.  If you haven’t done this before, then do so straight away.  Next, you must ensure that you confess your sins constantly and flee from them with unreserved determination.  King Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived, made it clear in Proverbs 28:13a that un-confessed sins and prosperity cannot go hand in hand when he said:

’’He who covers his sins will not prosper’’.

Once you have satisfied the requirements above then, the next question to ask will be; why won’t you prosper? Definitely there is no reason why you won’t.  By the grace of God you will prosper and your joy will be full.  So shall it be in Jesus name.  Amen.

Jesus is Lord!

Are You Still Worrying?

I ran into a friend some years back and in the course of our discussion, she told me that she had a habit of worrying too much which she couldn’t bring to an end.  I asked her why and she gave me the following reasons.  First of all, her health was fast failing and her doctors seemed unable to help her.  Secondly, her husband who was a chronic alcoholic found it extremely difficult to retain a job for long and her son, a drug addict, was always in and out of police trouble.  As if all above were not enough, her business was in shambles therefore, she had insignificant access to funds which she needed desperately to keep body and soul together and nobody was willing to assist her.  I truly felt sorry for her and we later talked things over and prayed together.  We specifically asked Jesus Christ to intervene in her situation and he did by solving all her problems one after the other to the glory of God.

Like this woman, there are many people out there who are daily inundated with unpleasant incidences which makes them to worry; sometimes excessively with detrimental effects on their well being.  Such people definitely need help.  Perhaps you or somebody close to you is one of them then, I bring you good tidings. Jesus Christ is willing and able to save you as he saved my friend.  But you must first be prepared to observe the right protocol which involves the following.  You must:

1.  Stop worrying.  This is the starting point and it is very crucial.  It might sometimes be difficult to achieve but it is not impossible to do so.  Jesus Christ pontificated against people getting worried on many occasions.  For example, in John 14:1 he said:

‘’Let your heart not be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me’’.

In short, he said we should not worry about anything.  And if you comply, you will succeed in sending a clear message to him that you believe in him and that you want him to save you.  And guess what? He will without fail.

2.  Commit your burdens into his care.  Apostle Peter advocated this position lucidly in 1 Peter 5:7.  He said.

‘’ casting all your care (burdens) upon Him, for He cares for you’’.

Jesus Christ is interested in taking over your burdens because he loves and cares about you dearly and he is eager to give you a resounding victory if you give him the chance (Matthew 11:28).

3.  Hold your peace; be expectant.  This is usually the hardest part of the protocol because victory can sometimes be delayed and this can be quite frustrating.  But bear in mind that our so called ‘long time’ does not amount to much as far as God is concerned (2 Peter 3:8, Psalm 90:4) and there is really nothing we can do to influence him.  However, he will give you victory at the most auspicious time if you wait patiently for him (Psalm 40:1-3).  Yes; challenges may crop up in the process but the good news is that none of them can overwhelm you (I Corinthians 10:13).  Please note that God is always dead right and dead on time.  Yours is to wait for him and his is to bail you out.  King Solomon captured this reality clearly in Proverbs 20:22b when he said:

‘’Wait on the Lord, and he will save you’’.

Friend, is there any aspect of your life or the life of somebody close to you that is agitating your mind? Have you done all that you could to deal with it unsuccessfully? If your answer is yes then, why don’t you put abovementioned protocol into practice as from this moment?  Many people did in the past and they triumphed.  You too can!

Finally, let me use this opportunity to wish you a happy August 2008.  May you be blessed and lifted through out in Jesus name.  Amen.

Jesus is Lord!

You Have Power!

In Mark 16:17-18, Jesus Christ said:

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.

Above proclamation encapsulates the enormous power that should be seen without surprise in all believers in Christ.  But from my close observation of many believers, I have sadly come to the conclusion that they are not even aware of the extraordinary power they possess not to talk of utilizing it.  It is for this reason amongst others that I am presenting this write up today to arouse such people so that they can claim what rightly belongs to them.  However before proceeding further, let us refresh our memory with some biblical examples of how each sign was demonstrated using Apostle Paul, an exceptional believer as our main reference.

1.  Casting out demons.  In Acts 16:16-18, Paul and Silas encountered a slave girl who was possessed with the spirit of divination (prediction). She followed them, howling irritatingly for days that they were the servants of God who proclaimed the way of salvation.  At a point, Paul got annoyed and cast the demon out of her in the name of Jesus.  Like Apostle Paul, every believer has the inalienable power to cast out demons in the name of Jesus.

2.  Speaking with new tongues.  A well-known instance when this sign was demonstrated can be found in Acts 2:1-4.  All believers gathered together in one place and they were in one accord.  Then suddenly, there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.  Then, there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Speaking with new tongues is a helpful power that all believers should possess and demonstrate (1 Corinthians 14:2).

3.  Taking up serpents.  We can see an instance of when this sign was demonstrated by reflecting on Acts Chapters 27 and 28.  Apostle Paul was involved in a ship wreck off the Island of Malta on his way to Rome to be tried by Caesar.  Thank God no life was lost and he, together with his co-travelers were well treated by the Islanders.  As he was warming himself from the fire made for them, he accidentally took up a serpent which fastened itself around his hand and he shook it off into the fire and he was unhurt.  If you believe in Christ and you take up a ‘serpent’, do not panic; just shake it off in Jesus name.

4.  Drinking deadly things without being hurt.  Getting into serious trouble as a result of one’s action or inaction can be likened to ‘drinking something deadly’ figuratively speaking.  The good news however is that Jesus Christ is always prepared to deliver such person from being hurt.  In Acts 21:1-14, Prophet Agabus, an experienced prophet, warned Apostle Paul against traveling to Jerusalem because he would be imprisoned there.  Regrettably, he disregarded the Prophet’s advice and as a result, he suffered intensely.  He was arrested, severely beaten and imprisoned but the Lord ensured that he (Apostle Paul) came to no hurt.

5.  Laying hands on the sick and their recovery.  After the ship wreck mentioned earlier on, Paul and his co-travelers were well treated by the Islanders including a prominent personality called Publius.  Paul later discovered that Publius’ father was ill with a fever and dysentery.  Without wasting time, he prayed for the man, laid hands on him and guess what? He recovered promptly (Acts 28:1-9).  As believers in Jesus Christ, it is our indisputable right to heal the sick through the laying of hands.

At this juncture, let me mention that it is not only Apostle Paul that could demonstrate these signs; all of us including your good self can.  How then are you faring? Very well? Congratulations if that is the case with you otherwise you may have to examine yourself more closely.  Are you in truth a believer in Christ? Have you accepted him into your life as your personal Lord and Savior? If you haven’t then, do so without delay because that is the starting point.  It is after this stage that you can have the guts to demonstrate the signs successfully. Just imagine how hugely beneficial you can suddenly become to the human race.  Perhaps you are a genuine believer in Christ but somehow you haven’t been able to demonstrate the signs as you should then, consider exercising more faith.  I therefore challenge you as from today to go out in the name of Jesus Christ; cast out demons, speak with new tongue, lay hands on the sick and if along the line you find yourself picking up ‘serpents’ or ‘drinking anything deadly’ you will surely come to no harm.  So shall it be in Jesus name.  Amen.

Dry Bones can Still Live

In Ezekiel Chapter 37:1-14, the Spirit of the Lord took Prophet Ezekiel to a valley full of dry bones and asked him to prophesy on them so that they can live again.  He did and they came back to life.

This is a popular account which I hope we shall pay more attention to someday.  But for the purpose of this write up, we shall only look at two words from it.  These are ‘bones’ and ‘dry bones’.  What are bones? They are the hard but extremely important whitish structures that form skeletons.  They are found in all vertebrates (i.e. animals having a back bone) such as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes and they perform many functions.  For example, they support the body and aid its movement.  They also protect its vital internal organs such as heart, lungs, liver, spleen, brain, eyes, etc and they are crucial for the formation of blood cells.  However, they can only perform these and other functions when they are alive.  When they die, they’ll dry up and become utterly useless.  In a nutshell, dry bones are not capable of supporting life.

Figuratively speaking, those situations that make a person’s life difficult and show no sign of abating despite interventions can be referred to as ‘dry bone situations’.  There are many of them and they are capable of causing death if care is not taken.  Examples include incapacitating illnesses, poverty of different kinds, crippling debt, long-standing state of unemployment or underutilization of ones capability, barrenness of all types, unrelenting ill luck, lack of meaningful help etc.  If any of these is affecting you then, you need help which is readily available fortunately. All the same, you cannot access available help unless you are:

1.  Genuinely tired of and willing to get rid of your dry bone situation(s).  This is very important.  Jabez (1 Chronicle 4:9-10) for example was genuinely tired of and willing to get rid of his ‘dry bone situation’ (i.e. drought of blessings) and that gave him the motivation to act as appropriate.

2.  Prepared to go to the right quarters.  Most people find it convenient to look for help from ungodly quarters whenever they encounter ‘dry bone situations’.  To them ‘the end justifies the means’ but we know that several of them lapsed into deeper problems ultimately whilst some others lost their lives.  This shows that what is written in Proverbs 14:12 is true.  That is:

‘’There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end is the way of destruction’’

To avoid this needless destruction therefore, it is important that we should do the right thing first and this is to seek help from Jesus Christ.  He is the only person who is well equipped to overcome all ‘dry bone situations’ and Apostle Paul spoke brilliantly along this line in Philippians 2:9-11.  He said:

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Having established that Jesus Christ is the only person who can overcome all dry bone situation(s), let us now delve into how we can get him personally interested in our individual case(s).  Firstly, we must accept him into our lives as our personal Lord and Savior.  Congratulations if you have done this before and if you are confident that your salvation is still rock solid.  But if for any reason you think it isn’t then, it is fitting for you to rededicate your life to him without any delay.  It is after concluding this important task that you can confidently approach him for help which he is eager to render.  He confirmed this in Matthew 11:28 when he said:  ‘’Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest’’.

Next, just as prophet Ezekiel prophesied on those dry bones, you too must prophesy on your dry bone situation(s) (please mention them one by one) to go in the name of Jesus Christ and they will (John 16:23-24).  Let me assure you here that you don’t need any special skill before you do this; all you need are boldness/faith (Matthew 17:20) and patience.  Please to not vacillate.  It is my heart felt prayer that as from this moment and for the rest of your life, you will find permanent freedom from all dry bone situations in Jesus name.  Amen.

Jesus is Lord!
