You Shall See Them no More!

We shall be looking at Zechariah 4:7 in this write up.  In it, the Lord said: ‘’who are you, o great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain’’.

This is a very popular biblical passage that has brought succor to many troubled minds.  It is very comforting and it gives concrete assurance that all will be well in one’s life at some point; prevailing circumstances not withstanding.

Before we proceed any further, let us look at the word MOUNTAIN more closely so that we can understand the import of this write up better.  By definition, a mountain is a very high, steep hill.  It can also be regarded as a large pile or quantity of something.  When the thing is good then, there is no problem.  Problem however arises, when it represents issues that make people’s lives taxing.  Examples of such issues are ill health, poverty, joblessness, barrenness of different kinds, ill luck, academic regression, professional inertia, family fracture and so on.

If you had good mountains in the course of year 2008, congratulations!  I am happy for you and I join you to thank God for being so kind to you.  But if by chance, you had bad mountains most of the time then, I sympathize with you most sincerely.  Please be informed that God loves you dearly and that mountains, whether good or bad, are undeniable parts of living.  Nevertheless, all is not lost yet as God demonstrated clearly in Zechariah 4:7 that restrictive mountains and I believe including yours, shall become plain.  Not only that, he is determined to get rid of all human mountains that may be making your life challenging at the moment.  This fact can be confirmed in Isaiah 41:11-13.

11.  Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish.  12.  You shall seek them and not find them— Those who contended with you.  Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing.  13.   For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

My dear friend, it is evident from above that your future is very bright and that calls for celebrations.  Definitely, this is not the time for you to brood over past difficulties cum disappointments.  This is the time for you to rejoice in the Lord.

As you coast towards the end of 2008 and as you move towards 2009, maybe with trepidation, let me encourage you with Exodus 14:13c-14.  It says:

13…“Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians (i.e. the mountains) whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.  14. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

So shall it be in Jesus name.  Amen.

Merry Christmas in advance! May God bless you and all that are yours.  Amen.

Jesus is Lord!
