FROM SAUL TO PAUL

I worked under a brilliant medical doctor shortly after I graduated from the medical school. He was a good man, but he did not fancy born-again Christians much for reasons best known to him, and he used every opportunity he had to put us down. I was then a newly born-again Christian!

Before long, he side-lined me from virtually every activity of the hospital and denied me my legitimate rights and privileges. But, I plodded on regardless, albeit with much pain and discouragement. To me, he was running his life like the biblical Saul!

One day, after much prayer, I invited him to a program in our church. Of course, he was surprised that I came to him for such purpose, and he quickly eased me out of his office and presence. But I did not give up; I went back to him a couple of times thereafter. Early one morning, he summoned me to his office and told me he would attend the program, and he did with his wife. In the end, he gave his life to Christ; he became born-again to the glory of God.

And right from the following day, my boss was everywhere, preaching Jesus Christ, and urging people to give their lives to Him; his limited knowledge of the Christian faith and the Bible notwithstanding. Sadly, he lost his life in a fatal car accident less than a month after his conversion, and we mourned him deeply. However, we were comforted in a vision that he made it to Heaven. He ran his life like Saul but ended it like Paul. Hallelujah!

Friend, how are you running your life at present? Are you running it, like Saul? That is, in your own way, doing evil, and impeding the work of God? If you are, then you need to change your lifestyle straight away, otherwise, you will not go far (Romans 6:23), and you will not end well like Paul.

So, how can you end well like Paul? Well, you can only do so through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Saul had a change in his lifestyle only after he had an encounter with Him (Acts 9:1-6). You need to have an encounter with Jesus Christ too, you need to surrender your life to Him, you need to become born-again for your lifestyle to change, and for you to end well, and attain Heaven finally (John 3:3).

Now, after becoming born-again, you need to join a bible teaching/believing and praying church, and fellowship there (Hebrews 10:24-25). You must also involve yourself in soul winning activities and do good because both will pay off in the long run (Proverbs 11:30, Galatians 6:9). In addition, you must focus your attention on Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:1-2), and have absolute faith in God (Hebrews 11:6). Besides, you must be filled with the Holy Spirit; this is for your own good please (Acts 1:8, John 14:26, John 3:5-6, etc.)

Friend, if you have done all above, then please stand firm (Ephesians 6:13), and be vigilant lest you fall (1 Corinthians 10:12). By the grace of God, you will not fall, you will end well on earth, and like Apostle Paul, you too will find yourself in a position where you can boldly say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7), in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Jesus is Lord!
