God Will Make Your Crooked Places Straight!

I got a job at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, Nigeria in January 2001. The salary was good; more than 300% of what I was earning up to that time, and the sky was truly the limit for me there. But I had a big problem; I had no accommodation; not even a shared room to move into, and Asaba was notorious for its painful accommodation problem. In fact, when I got there, many of my colleagues were perching wherever they found.

One evening, while having my usual road walk and pondering over my accommodation problem, Isaiah 41:21 came to my mind. It says: “Present your case,”…Bring forth your strong reasons,” says the King of Jacob”. And shortly afterwards, Isaiah 45:2 in which the Lord said: “I will go before you and make the crooked places straight…” also came to my mind. Instantly, I knew my accommodation problem was receiving divine consideration!

Anyway, I presented my case to God as prompted! I told Him that I had always lived in big houses with boys’ quarters (out houses), which I gave out to people free of charge. I also gave out rooms in the main buildings to those who had no place to stay, free of charge. Moreover, I told God that I paid the utility bills of the aforementioned people, treated them when they were ill, and made sure that they were generally comfortable. As a final point, I asked Him to compensate me in line with His word in Psalm 41:1!

I resumed duty at FMC, Asaba on the 1st of February 2001; still without accommodation, and my first assignment there, was to sort out some pre-employment protocols at the Admin department. It was while I was doing that, that two gentlemen, Brother (now Pastor) Nathanael Solomon and Brother Patrick Onoye took interest in me. I did not know them; neither did they know me prior to that time!

As I was leaving the Admin department that day, Brother Solomon approached me, and said “Praise God Doctor, your accommodation problem is over”! He then told me how they became burdened to get me an accommodation when they set their eyes on me. And in less than 30 minutes, He took me to an accommodation which had its private amenities, 24 hours water supply, fairly regular electricity supply, 24 hours security, parking spaces, etc., all luxuries in Nigeria, at zero cost to me. And throughout my stay there (15 months in all), these brothers refused all my attempts to reward them! But my God shall supply all their need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Amen.

I presented my case to God, and backed it up with good reasons. After that, I asked Him to resolve it, and He went before me, and made crooked places straight to do so. Friends, did you sow kindness in some people’s lives in the past? Did you accommodate them when they were stuck? Did you feed them when they were hungry? Did you comfort them when they were bereaved? Did you pay someone’s hospital bill or school fees at any time, etc.? If you did, then you have very good reasons to back up your case to God.

Friends, God does not forget good deeds (Hebrews 6:10 NIV); He rewards them (Proverbs 11:25)! And today, He will go before you, and make crooked places straight to reward you. He will open doors of opportunities for you; He will give you good breaks, and propel you forward faster. He will heal you, and give you victory over all your battles. Your children will do well, and people will call you blessed, in Jesus name. Amen.

Jesus is Lord!
