HEY SATAN, DON’T MESS UP WITH ME!

In Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. This he (the devil) did three times, when Jesus was vulnerable, having fasted for forty days and forty nights.

Firstly, the devil asked Him to command ordinary stones to bread. Secondly, he took Him to the pinnacle of the temple, and asked Him to jump down. Thirdly, he took Him upon a very high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and then asked Him to fall down and worship him.

Please note that in all the times mentioned above, the devil quoted words from the bible, and promised Jesus Christ juicy rewards to sway Him to do his bidding! But all the times too, Jesus countered (resisted) him with appropriate biblical words, as if He was saying: ‘hey Satan, don’t mess up with me’! In the end, He dismissed him with a parting shot i.e.: “Away with you, Satan…’’ (Matthew 4: 10), and he left!

Friend, let me congratulate you here for surviving year 2014. It is my prayer that you will survive and do better in 2015, in Jesus name. Amen. Honestly, I wish I could tell you that everything will be fine with you throughout the year, but the truth is, they might not! The devil might even afflict you one way or another (he does that all the time (1 Peter 5:8), and then try to take over your life.

Friend, don’t be surprised if for example, he afflicts you with an illness, and then ask you to lean on him for your healing. In that case, call him to order straightaway by saying: ‘hey Satan, don’t mess up with me’, for I am healed by the strips of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 53:5). Supposing he declares that you will die; confront him swiftly; say ‘hey Satan, don’t mess up with me’; I shall not de, but live, and declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17). Therefore, away with you!

And if he goes on to advise you to turn your back against the Lord; cut him short and say: ‘hey Satan, don’t mess up with me’; as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15). What if he threatens that your enemies will destroy you? Then, say ‘hey Satan, don’t mess up with me’; the Lord has steered my enemies to make peace with me (Proverbs 16:7), how then can they destroy me? Therefore, away with you!

Perhaps he tries to stall your well-deserved promotion; please stop him quickly, and say: ‘hey Satan, don’t mess up with me’; promotion comes from God (Psalm 75:6-7 KJV), and He will promote me at the right time. Maybe he makes threats that you cannot prosper in life, just smile and say: ‘hey Satan, don’t mess up with me’; God is interested in the prosperity of His own (Psalm 35:27); He is interested in mine as well. Therefore, I will prosper; away with you!

Friend, be prepared to counter (resist) the devil vigorously this year! Be prepared to match him wit for wit, word for word, and power for power (1 John 4:4), and in the end, he will flee from you (James 4:7)! In that case, you will have the liberty to serve the Lord unfettered, live your life in peace, use your talents unimpeded, and succeed where others are failing, in Jesus name. Amen.

Jesus is Lord!
