- Remission of sin
Apostle Peter, while preaching to Cornelius’ household, confirmed that the remission of sin is possible through the name of Jesus. He said: ”To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins” (Acts 10:43).
Earlier in Acts 2:14-42, precisely on the day of Pentecost, Peter gave a moving sermon that stunned his listeners exceedingly, and in their state, they addressed him and the rest of the Apostles as follows: ”Men and brethren, what shall we do” (v37)? Then Peter replied them: ”Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (v38). Afterwards, many people received his words gladly, and they were baptized. And that day alone, three thousand souls were added to the Church (v41).
Friend, we are all sinners (Romans 3:23), and unless we repent, we shall never attain the Kingdom of God (Ephesians 5:5). However, if we call on the name of Jesus Christ today, and confess our sins, He will forgive us, and we will receive remission of our sins (Acts 10:43, 1 John 1:9) and in the end, we will attain heaven in Jesus name. Amen.
