YOUR ENEMY CAN BE AT PEACE WITH YOU!

When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him’’ (Proverbs 16:7).

My father, Samuel Adejuyigbe Adegbulu (1924-1999) was famous for being intelligent, humorous, sociable, trendy, neat, and delightfully handsome. He loved his family, education, music, and flowers. He also loved people and taught us to love and stand up for them whenever the need arises.

As a person, I love people too, especially the young ones, a lot of whom I had, and still have, as my friends till now. They flock around me, follow me everywhere, and share in my successes and setbacks. They make life exciting and more meaningful for me too, and on my path, I do my best to help, teach, and stand up for them, as my father advocated.

Whereas many people applaud me for being there for the young ones, a few hate me for the same reason. And at one time, someone in the latter group declared himself my number one enemy and vowed to deal with me mercilessly. He was a tall, muscular, and strong man, while I was only feeble, stature-wise, at that time.

One day, I took delivery of some tee-shirts, which I was to give out to some boys free of charge, but the man in question wanted them all for himself, and I said no to his demand. To the best of my knowledge, I thought I was doing the right thing. But he felt I crossed the red line and decided to deal with me ruthlessly. After all, he never liked me, to start with.

So, he advanced towards me, and as he was about to land me his first round of punches, I felt an overwhelming power, the origin of which I can’t explain, surging through my body. It was so strong that I confronted and defeated him with ease, to my surprise and everyone else’s. Eventually, I gave out the tee-shirts as planned and left the place.

Shortly afterward, he came to where I was, offered me his hand, and I shook it warmly with great joy. Then, he apologized for his earlier actions and promised to be my friend from that moment. I am proud to declare that he lived up to his promise, and we are still friends up till today, to the glory of God.

Looking back now, I believe my way pleased the Lord, so, He made the man, who was my enemy to be at peace with me (Proverbs 16:7). He can make yours to be at peace with you too if your way please Him. How can this happen, you might wish to ask at this point?

Well, there are many things you must do, but we will consider only the following for now. For example, you must always obey Him (Exodus 19:5) and do His will (Hebrews 13:21). You must also have absolute faith in Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Besides, you must fear Him (Psalm 147:11) and make efforts to be spiritually minded (Romans 8:6-8). Moreover, you must love Him and humanity (Matthew 22:35-40). Not only that, you must pay attention to the poor/needy (Proverbs 14:31) and give cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Prayer and fasting may be very crucial in this matter as well (Matthew 17:20-21).

Friends, I believe if you do all above and others, you will please God, and He will proceed to make your enemy to be at peace with you. And before long, you will see yourself flourishing and fulfilling your destiny in life, in Jesus name. Amen.

MOVE FROM WHERE YOU ARE NOW TO WHERE GOD WANTS YOU TO BE!

Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. 2.  I will make you a great nation; I will bless you…And you shall be a blessing’’ (Genesis 12:1-2).

I used to work in Akure, Nigeria, my home town, in the early part of my career. Initially, things went very well for me and my family there, but the situation soon changed, and we encountered myriads of difficulties afterwards, which made me seek help from people, especially those I thought could help us, but they ignored me. Some of them even denigrated me, and that was quite painful. It was as if God shut the door on us!

While sleeping one night, I dreamt I was addressing a congregation. I was all over the place, jumping from one part of the auditorium to another, screaming myself hoarse, panting and sweating profusely. Sadly, no one took any notice of me, and after some time, I became annoyed and decided to abandon the congregants. Suddenly, I heard a voice from behind, urging me to leave Akure because my time there was over. It also advised me to relocate to Benin-City, Nigeria, where I would be heard, appreciated and blessed.

Meanwhile, Benin-City, though bigger and more prosperous than ours, was not a popular destination among our people. A lot of them believed it is a violent, fetish, and sinful city, which should be avoided at all cost. But my wife and I thought otherwise. So, we sought guidance from our spiritual parents, to clarify issues and lay every concern to rest.

After we had fasted and prayed one day, they cleared us in the spirit and encouraged us to relocate to Benin-City, as I was advised in my dream. They also affirmed that we would be heard, appreciated and blessed there. Not only that, they prophesied that the City would pave the way for us to travel abroad, without stress. We left Akure and move to Benin-City shortly afterwards, not minding the negative remarks from various quarters.

Please, let me quickly state here that it wasn’t all gloom and doom for us at Akure because we enjoyed some good moments and relationships there too. A lot of people freely gave us their time, love, commitment, words of encouragement, best wishes, and prayers, etc., each time. And for these, we are most grateful. May the good Lord reward them richly, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Indeed, God blessed us abundantly in Benin-City. It was there that I became a functioning speaker. I spoke in numerous gatherings to different categories of people, and they listened to me. And with my sister-in-law, Temi Obasohan, my wife and I ran a televangelism ministry, WORD ALIVE, through which we reached millions of people every week, won several souls for Christ and motivated a lot of young people to do good and honour God. We also used our ministry to discover and bring into the limelight many hidden talents; singers, dancers, instrumentalists, actors/actresses, speakers, etc., that are doing great today to the glory of God.

On a personal note, I learnt new skills in Benin-City. One of them is typing, which I have used to write countless of medical and non-medical articles, books, theses, lecture notes, proposals, poems, orations, tributes, etc., all by myself. Besides, I learnt graphic design there, and today, I have several good designs to my credit. As if all above were not enough, my communication skill got a significant boost in that great City.

Professionally, my wife and I did very well too. For example, my colleagues and I treated and brought thousands of people back to good health. Also, I furthered my training in Medicine, studied computer appreciation, word processing, spreadsheet appreciation, etc. Additionally, I honed my skill in TV presentation and directing. All these I would never have done in Akure because of massive distractions and a shortage of opportunities there.

My wife and I also met and closely interacted with numerous good people that loved and stood by us, through thick and thin. The icing on our cake was that we met and enjoyed an excellent personal relationship, unwavering love, and unfettered spiritual guidance from the legendary Arch-Bishop Benson Idahosa, our dear father in the Lord of blessed memory, and his beautiful wife. I say big thank you to all these good people.

Finally, it was the Benin-City route that paved the way for us to relocate to the UK, without stress. And now, we are using the talents God gave us along the way to honour Him and do well for ourselves and humanity. I give Him praise!

Friend, my wife and I obeyed God by moving out of Akure, our home town and comfort zone, where we were, to Benin-City, where He wanted us to be, and He blessed us immensely in return, and we became channels of blessings to others (Genesis 12: 1-2). Today, I encourage you to do the same thing, and God will bless you as well.

Therefore, is God asking you to change your location for another one, or change your job for a new one? Is He asking you to acquire a new skill, start a new business, write a book, compose a song, or produce a movie? Is He asking you to end a relationship and start a new one with someone else? Etc. If He is, please obey Him, because He wants you to move from where you are now, to where He wants you to be.

If you obey Him, you will have rest (Matthew 11:28), victory (Deuteronomy 20:4), joy (Isaiah 35:10), peace (Psalm 29:11), promotion (Psalm 75:6-7 (KJV)), fresh ideas/creativity (1 Kings 3:12), etc. Moreover, your trials will be taken care of (1 Corinthians 10:13), and your broken heart will be healed (Psalm 147:3).

Furthermore, you will prosper, for that is the wish of God for you anyway (3 John 2), and your children will become mighty and blessed in your land (Psalm 112:2 (NIV)). Other mind-boggling things will happen to you also (1 Corinthians 2:9), and the name of the Lord shall be exalted in your life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

THE IMPOSSIBLE IS ALSO POSSIBLE WITH GOD!

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible” (Mark 10:27)

I once worked in a rural community in Nigeria, shortly after I graduated from the Medical School. And while I was there, I met a young man who was generally described as a drug addict, a serial womanizer, a busybody and a drifter, among other evil labels. But I did not see him the way they saw him. I saw him as a nice man, always smiling, and had kind words for me each time we met.

One day, he was evicted from the small room he shared with his uncle, his uncle’s large family, and other people, on trumped-up charges, and he found himself homeless, helpless and penniless all of a sudden.

In his desperation, he came to my office one hot afternoon, sweating profusely and looking unkempt, and narrated his ordeals to me. Eventually, he asked if he could live in my boys’ quarters, which was vacant at that time, and I said yes immediately, despite strong protestations from some people within the community. They wanted me to evict him at all costs, but I refused.

Before long, he became born-again and went everywhere to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, heal the people, and deliver them from the clutches of the devil. That is, he became a great blessing to many people in the community. He was a great blessing to me and my family as well.

One morning, he came to my apartment and asked if he could do a farm for me, as a way of thanking me for allowing him to live in my boys’ quarters free of charge. But I declined since I didn’t want a farm. Besides, the land in our part of the community was known to be barren and unfit for any meaningful farming activity.

Notwithstanding, he continued to pester me until I caved in. He later assured me that with God, the land, which was known to be barren and unfit for any meaningful farming activity, would do very well for us. And to my surprise, it did, such that at the end of the planting season that year, we harvested a large quantity of farm produce, most of which we had to give out to several people far and near.

To me, it was impossible to carry out any meaningful farming activity where my residence was. But to the man, the ‘impossible is also possible with God’, and he was dead right.

Friends, are you currently facing any situation, which looks impossible to overcome? If you are, then be informed that the ‘impossible is possible with God’. For instance, it is possible for Him to heal you, even though medical experts have concluded otherwise. Remember, He is interested in restoring you to health and healing your wounds (Jeremiah 30:17).

It is also possible for Him to make you prosper, even if the resources at your disposal and other realities on the ground do not agree with this position. Please, do not forget that He wants you to abound in all the work of your hand (Deuteronomy 30:9), and make you prosper in whatever you do (Psalms 1:3). In addition, it is possible for Him to save your children, even though they are far lost (Isaiah 49:25), and they shall call you blessed, sooner or later (Proverbs 31:28).

Furthermore, it is possible for God to give you a good name, a good personality, a good ministry, a good business, a good career, a good family, a good house, a good car, etc. (Psalm 84:11), although it looks like you cannot have them because of one reason or the other.

Please, don’t believe the lies of the devil suggesting that it is impossible for you to have good things of life, or reach great heights like other people, for with God all things are possible (Mark 10:27). Meaning, the ‘impossible is also possible’ with God! Hallelujah!!

YOUR CASE IS NOT CLOSED!

For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you’’ (Isaiah 41:13)

Franklin, not his real name, suffered from severe stammering (stuttering), a speech defect when he was young. This condition made him repeat the initial letters of his words and pause his speech involuntarily, regularly. For that reason, he spoke with great difficulty. And as you might expect, his parents took him everywhere for help, all to no avail.

Time and again, he suffered instances of abuse and unkindness at school and in his neighborhood and had to fight to defend himself. Time and again too, He got injured while defending himself and faced unpleasant disciplinary actions afterwards. No wonder he hated school and avoided people habitually.

His condition grew worse progressively over the years, and it seemed his case has closed! One day, while walking on a deserted road, lonely and sad, he prayed to God to deliver him from his condition so that he could be like other children; happy, appreciated, and loved. Suddenly, he felt a release in his tongue, and he spoke slightly better that day. He then repeated walking and praying on the same road regularly, asking God to perfect what He started in his life (Psalm 138:8).

After a short time, he began to talk smoothly and clearly like other children. His confidence soon came back strongly, and he started to go to school happily and do well academically. As we speak, he is doing great in his chosen profession, talking fluently to numerous people and helping them overcome their problems day by day.  He also goes about everywhere preaching Jesus Christ and drawing people to the Kingdom of God. You can now see that his case was not closed after all, contrary to his earlier belief.

Friends, have you been trusting God for a change regarding your family, business, finance, health, ministry, promotion, education, etc., all to no avail? And do you now believe your case is closed? If you do, please pay attention to me today; I have good news for you!

Like Franklin’s, your case is not closed, and God is willing to help you (Isaiah 41:13). After that, your family will do well, and all of you will serve the Lord together (Joshua 24:15). He will bless the work of your hands as well, and you will lend and not borrow (Deuteronomy 28:12).

Are you ill at present? If you are, then get ready as God will restore you to health and heal you (Jeremiah 30:17). Is your name in ruins right now? If it is, please rejoice, because God is willing to give you a new name (Revelation 2:17), and people will be astounded at the changes that will take place in your life afterwards (Psalm 126:1-3). Are you bereaved? If you are, cheer up, for joy is coming your way very soon (Psalm 30:5).

Friends, as you go about your life each day, pray to God to revisit your case, no matter what it is and how grave it is. Have an unwavering faith that He will answer you, and He will, sooner or later (Hebrews 11:6), in Jesus name. Amen.

BEFORE YOU CALL, GOD WILL ANSWER!

It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer…’’ (Isaiah 65:24)

Mama Perry, not her real name, was my friend in Nigeria. I first met her in my clinic in the company of her daughter, Auntie Anne, not her real name as well. She was close to eighty years old at that time!

Mama Perry was a large-hearted woman, though small in stature. She was a devout Christian, very witty, friendly and calm. Besides, she had something nice to tell anyone that crossed her path.

Naturally, I treated her with utmost respect and patience every time, and I made sure we found the time, no matter how small, to chat, laugh, sing, and pray, each time she attended my clinic. Without a doubt, she was fun to be with!

One day, she came to my clinic with tears in her eyes and told me she was relocating to another town, with her daughter. Of course, I felt sad we would part ways, but I still managed to assure her that she would be fine and that God willing, we would meet again. She left my clinic that day smiling!

About two years afterwards, I got a new job in another town, and I was there all by myself. For that reason, I had ample time to focus on my patients and attend most activities in my church. Then, one Saturday morning, during my ward round, I was abruptly prompted in the Spirit to go to church the following day. I wasn’t planning to do so before then, because I was on call duty in the hospital that weekend, and I was quite busy.

Anyway, I made it to Church as prompted, and I bumped into Auntie Anne, Mama Perry’s daughter, at some point. And as you would expect, we were both surprised, but, elated to see each other again. She later told me how early that morning, Mama Perry woke up and prayed to God to bring me back to her life. I also narrated how a day earlier, I was prompted in the Spirit to be in the church that day, even though I wasn’t planning to do so before. In the end, I didn’t find it too difficult to conclude that before Mama Perry called, God answered her!

I rekindled my friendship with Mama Perry the following day, and it is my great joy to have been there for her again for several months. Sadly, she passed on a few months after I relocated to the United Kingdom. I sincerely thank God for her life and my relationship with her.

Friends, please call on God today, and I believe before you do so, He will answer you too, in Jesus name. Amen. For example, He will answer you by giving you rest from your concerns (Matthew 11:28) and keeping you safe/peaceful in your home (Isaiah 32:18-19). He will also contend with those who contend with you and save your children (Isaiah 49:25).

Besides, He will help you to make wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18) and withhold nothing good from you (Psalm 84:11). Likewise, He will give you your well-deserved promotion (Psalm 75:6-7) and honour you because you honour Him (1 Samuel 2:30).

Not only that, He will make you prosper (Deuteronomy 30:9), give you a new name (Isaiah 62:2) and wipe away your tears (Revelation 21:4). And before long, people will notice you and be amazed at the way God has been good to you. In the end, they will rejoice with you and call you blessed, in Jesus name. Amen.

NB: This write up is dedicated to the memories of Mama Perry and my late mother, Mrs Beatrice Taye Adegbulu, who passed on recently. May their souls rest in perfect peace, in Jesus name. Amen.

GOD WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU!

… For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

Mrs Lottie Banks, not her real name, is a friendly, hardworking, quiet, decent, and pretty woman. She loves her family and serves the Lord enthusiastically. I first met her as a young Christian, and I was quite close to her family.

Sadly, despite her sterling qualities, her husband did not think much about her. He snubbed her consistently for over ten years, even though they lived under the same roof. But, Mrs Banks continued to be good to him in every way, regardless. She also cooked his meals, which he ignored, throughout. After some time, she became downcast and felt God had left her and forsaken her!

One day, a mutual friend of ours informed me about Mrs Banks’ ordeal, and I stepped in immediately, with one of my Christian friends. We got our Deacon, a man filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, involved as well.

Right from that day, we started to pray for her, on a regular basis, while our deacon fortified her with the words of God. One afternoon, exactly nine months after we started to pray for her, the Holy Spirit spoke through the man of God.

He said Mrs Banks should rejoice, as her petition concerning her husband had been answered. As a proof, therefore, He instructed her to prepare his favourite meal for supper that day, and he would eat it, and be intimate with her afterwards. Please, remember that Mr Banks had nothing to do with her for over ten years, prior to that day.

Initially, she was reluctant to comply with the instruction given to her, because they seemed too good to be believed, bearing in mind her past ugly experiences. But, we managed to convince her to do so in the end.

Guess what? Her husband indeed ate the meal and was intimate with her that night, as told by the Holy Spirit. The result of that act was a baby boy; a look-alike of his father, and the eventual unifier of his parents. Today, the family are united and doing great! God did not leave Mrs Banks nor forsake her after all!

Friends, what are the things you are battling with lately, which has refused to give you a breather? Whatever they are, please, realize that God has not left you nor forsaken you. He is working behind the scene, and He will sort you out sooner or later (Isaiah 45:2-2), because He loves you greatly (John 3:16), being the apple of His eyes (Zechariah 2:8).

Among other things, He will not leave nor forsake you and your children. Instead, He will contend with those who contend with you, and then save them (Isaiah 49:25b). Also, He will not leave nor forsake the work of your hand; on the other hands, He will bless it greatly (Deuteronomy 28:12).

Similarly, God will not leave nor forsake you when you are in need (Philippians 4:19), or when you are unwell (Psalm 41:3). He will not cut off your expectations (Proverbs 23:18), and He will fulfil the numbers of your days (Exodus 23:26), in Jesus name. Amen.

GOD WILL SURPRISE YOU BIG TIME!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)

My family and I once lived in one of three apartments in a compound, in our hometown, Akure, Nigeria. The second apartment was occupied by our Pastor friend, while the third was occupied by our landlady.

Initially, we all lived together happily, until our landlady became uncomfortable with our Christian faith. After a while, she asked us, plus the Pastor, to quit her compound, within one month. I will like to state here that we never disturbed her in any way, and at any time. Meanwhile, our hometown was notorious for its serious accommodation problem.

Of course, we pleaded with her to give us more time to look for another accommodation, but, she stuck to her guns. In the end, we quickly went out, and combed every nook and cranny of our town, for another accommodation, every day, for many days, all to no avail.

However, in the middle of our house hunt, my wife and I attended a Christian crusade, during which, the ministering Pastor told the congregation that God wanted each of us present to ask Him for something of importance to us, for prompt settlement. We quickly asked Him for a good accommodation and the money to pay for it! We were low on funds at that time!

Guess what? We found four good apartments within 24 hours after the crusade. We eventually settled for one of them. Shortly afterwards, God led a friend I hadn’t seen for ages to me. One thing led to another, and we ended up in an office where a government-funded, interest-free loan, was on offer. I applied for it like other people, but, to my surprise, my application was singled out for approval that day, and I was given a fat cheque accordingly.

Usually, such approval takes a long time to come through in our place. Well, I took the cheque to my bank for lodgement immediately. There again, God led a staff of the bank to cash it for me there and then. I didn’t lobby her to help me! So, with cash in hand, I went to pay my rent for two years straight away.

Friends, we asked God for an apartment; He gave us four. He then arranged money for two years rent for us, instead of one, and we moved into it within three weeks, thus beating the one month quit notice given to us by our landlady. Without a shred of doubt, God surprised us big time!

I recommend this same God to you today. Please, approach Him with all your concerns without delay, and He will surprise you, big time, as well. For example, He will deal with your ill health and give you sound health instead (Jeremiah 33:6). He will also bless the work of your hands (Deuteronomy 28:12), and whatever you do henceforth, will prosper (Psalm 1:1-3).

Besides, God will defeat your enemies right before your face (Deuteronomy 28:7) and have your back always (Genesis 12:3). Not only that, He will teach your children Himself, and they will enjoy robust peace all around (Isaiah 54:13). On top of everything, you will not be put to shame (Isaiah 54:4), and His name will be glorified in your life, in Jesus name. Amen.
