Luke 12:28

If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?

Father Lord, thank you for being so mindful of us, more than the grass, which today is in the field, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven (Luke 12:28).

Thank you for your willingness to supply all our need (food, water, shelter, security, and clothes, etc.) according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

In addition Father, please clothe us with the garments of joy and praise (Isaiah 61:3), peace (Isaiah 55:12), mercy (1 Peter 1:3), grace (Hebrews 4:16), forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32), healing (Psalm 107:19-21), and salvation (Isaiah 33:2), in Jesus name. Amen.

COMMIT YOUR WAY TO THE LORD!

Like many people, I encountered myriads of problems when I arrived in the UK. Chief among them were the harsh cold weather, difficulty with grasping what people said, the foods which were alien to me, loneliness, and paucity of funds. But, God helped me out in one way or the other, using various people. May He bless and multiply them continually in return (Genesis 22:17), in Jesus name. Amen.

Before long, I put in for a major examination, which I was expected to turn out smartly in suit for. But because I was low on funds, I opted to buy a cheap but good looking suit. Sadly, I outgrew it quickly, and in an attempt to force its trousers on, while testing it two days to the examination, I lost its hook. Then, I knew I was in real trouble! How would I replace it, and who would help me out? I asked myself in my depressed state!

Eventually, I narrated my ordeal to my good friend, Olabode Winsala on phone, and typical of him, he came down to me promptly. We ended up praying to God vigorously for divine intervention, and I had peace of mind thereafter. But I still needed a suit, and none of his could fit me. So we decided to buy a new one, plus a matching shirt, tie, and cuff links, having raised about £150 between us. He contributed the lion share of the money of course!

Before we went out that day, my friend insisted that we should pray again, this time for God to assist us with our purchases. Honestly, I thought that was not necessary. Do we have to pray for every little thing, including our purchases? I queried him, and he said yes. Then, I remembered Psalm 37:5 which says “Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass’’. I concurred immediately!

Anyway, we prayed and then hit a huge chunk of Central London, combing every fashion store in sight. Unfortunately, all the suits that we saw cost well over £120. What should we do, since we still had other stuffs to buy? But somehow, we trusted God that we would be fine in the end! Suddenly, my friend’s wife, Tokunbo Fagbemi Winsala, phoned and advised us to try a particular store nearby, and we did. All the stuffs in it were super, but very expensive; way out of our reach.

Just as we were about to exit the store, the Manager in charge called us back, and said we could pick up any suit of our choice, a matching shirt, tie, and cuff links, all for £200 only. Normally, those items should have cost us between £400 and £600 in that store. Remember we had only £150 on us.  Right away, I phoned around, and got somebody to pay £50 into my account. With it, we had £200, and paid for the items.

Afterward, we asked the manager why he was so generous to us, especially as he did not know us before. He just smiled, and said, “I really don’t know; I just did it’’. Straightaway, I concluded that God used him to bring our desires to pass, because we committed our way to Him, and trusted Him (Psalm 37:5)!

I later attended the said examination fittingly and gorgeously dressed, and smashed it to the glory of God.

Friends, this same God wants to bring your desires to pass as well. But, you must be prepared to commit your ways into His hands, and trust Him first of all. So, go ahead right now, and commit your battles into His hands, and He’ll fight them for you (Exodus 14:14). Commit your children into His hands, and He’ll save them (Isaiah 49:25). Commit your work into His hands, and He’ll bless it (Psalm 128:2). Commit your health into His hands, and He’ll heal you (Jeremiah 30:17). Commit those who chose to be your enemies into His hands, and He’ll sort them out for you (Proverbs 16:7), etc. Please be courageous enough to commit all your desires to Him from now on and He shall bring them to pass, sooner or later, in Jesus name. Amen.

Switch On The Light; Pray!

John the Baptist (Matthew 14:1-12) was imprisoned by King Herod, because he admonished the King for appropriating Herodias, his Brother Phillip’s wife. The King soon got him beheaded to reward Herodias daughter, who had earlier danced brilliantly before him during his birthday celebration.

Before long, the disciples of John the Baptist briefed Jesus Christ about the death of their boss, and He departed from there by boat to a deserted place. But the people quickly learnt that He had moved, and they followed Him on foot from the cities. And when He saw the great multitude, “He was moved with compassion for them” (Matthew 14: 14).

What does “move with compassion for people’’ mean, you may wish to ask? Well it simply means to have a feeling of deep sympathy, empathy, concern, consideration, kindness, etc. for them. In the course of His earthly ministry, Jesus was moved with compassion for people due to their terrible conditions, and He attended to their needs appropriately. He taught them, healed them, fed them, comforted them, defended them, and gave them Salvation!

A great deal of people these days like in the past, are also overwhelmed by intense challenges, which makes them struggle every day, all year round, every year. And most times, they end up being very distressed, dejected, and desperate. They may even lose their lives prematurely, and if care is not taken, their children may end up like them.

Occasionally, some public spirited people may show up to assist those in need but, there is a limit to what they can do at any point in time. Now, if we are to tell the truth, no one should live their lives in unnecessary pain, since Jesus, the all-powerful one, whose compassion is legendary, is waiting, willing, and able to shoulder our yokes, if we cast them upon Him (1 Peter 5:7).

Friend, it is an established fact that all problems originate from the spiritual realm, i.e. in the dark places (Ephesians 6:12). Since that is the case, then we must go all-out to confront them spiritually too. And we can do this, by praying to God through Jesus Christ! Please note that prayer is a spiritual light, and we must use it to illuminate the dark places, and reach out to God. Cornelius for example, used it and it worked for him (Acts 10:30-31). It is working for countless of people in this day and age as well. Kindly imitate them; switch on the light; pray!

Please, don’t be too busy to pray, and don’t wait till you are desperate before you do so. Like Jesus Christ, create time to pray (Mark 1:35), and then pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)!

Pray on issues that affects your family, friends, neighbours, neighbourhood, country, and the world. Also, pray in support of your job, business, profession, and education. In addition, pray for good health, peace of mind, abundance, and God’s favour, glory, and honour upon your life, and the lives of all your loved ones. Last but not least, pray against oppression, impunity, and violence. The good news is that your prayer will surely be answered (Matthew 7-7) sooner or later, in Jesus name. Amen.

Pray For Your Friends!

We shall be looking at the benefits of praying for our friends in this write up and for the task; we shall take a look at Job 42:10.  It says:  ‘’And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends….’’

Job was a man who feared God and shunned evil.  And as a result, God had explicit confidence in him to the extent that He allowed Satan to rattle him because He was cock sure that he would never be disloyal to Him.  In the process, he (Job) lost everything he had except his life and some few friends whose comments about him were everything but kindly.  Even then, he still found it fitting to pray for them and God blessed him vastly in return.

The bible says we should pray for each other (James 5:16) because there are benefits attached to doing so.  For example, healing is one of them and in this case, it is not limited to restoration to good health alone.  It connotes restoration to perfection in all areas of life.  Job prayed for his friends and God restored his health back to perfection and gave him twice as much as he had earlier and blessed the latter part of his life more than the former.  As if these were not enough, He also gave him the opportunity to live up to a respectable old age and to die peacefully.  In short, God healed all aspects (physical, mental, marital, financial, material, etc) of his life (Job 42:10-17).

Friend, do you find time to pray for your friends? If you do, brilliant but if you don’t, you are just denying yourself of a lot of mouth watering benefits.  When you pray for them, other people will pray for you too because ‘’…whatever a man sows, that he will also reap’’ (Galatians 6:7).  Furthermore, Apostle Paul emphasised in 1Timothy 2:1-3 that praying for others, is both good and well acceptable to God.  And in a situation like this, I cannot see how you will not be blessed if you engage in it.

Perhaps you have been praying for improvements in certain areas of your life until now and it seems you are getting no where; perhaps you need to change your tactics a little bit.  Why don’t you consider praying for your friends and other people for a change? Job did and he was immensely blessed.  You too will be blessed if you do same in Jesus name.  Amen.

Finally, let me commit you into God’s able hands throughout this month and beyond and please endeavour to pray for your friends as much as you can. I will!

Facts About HIV/AIDS

A few weeks ago, I read a report on the global HIV/AIDS epidemic, the highlights of which I will like to share with you today.

1. Number of people living with HIV/AIDS globally as at December 2003: Adults=37million, Children=2.5 million.  22.6 million (61%) of these people are living in sub-Saharan Africa.

2. Number of HIV/AIDS death in 2003=3million.

3. Number of AIDS orphans at the end of 2001=14million.

Source: UNAIDS (2003) AIDS epidemic report.

You will agree with me that the above statistics is very unsettling particularly as the situation is getting worse on daily basis.  Friend, you may wish to remember that there is no known cure for this frightful disease and none is in sight.  Unless there is divine intervention, our beautiful world may soon become overwhelmed with ill and dying people as well as millions of poor and helpless dependants of the deceased.  Should we just fold our arms and do nothing? NO! I think we should do something concrete and quickly too.  This is not the time for us to start trading blames and abuses.  And definitely this is not the time for us to delve into the controversies surrounding the origin of HIV/AIDS.  This is the time for us to pray!  This is the request I am humbly putting before you today-please heed my call.  Please kindly pause for a moment and join other people all over the world in sincerely saying the prayer below.

‘’ Dear Lord,

Help us to accept the challenges of AIDS

Protect the healthy, calm the frightened and give courage to those in pains,

Comfort the dying and give eternal rest to the dead

Console the bereaved and strengthen those who care for the sick

May we O Lord, trusting in your love, be united in conquering all diseases and fear

These and more we ask in Jesus name.  Amen’’.

Thank you.  Please as much as you can this month, kindly remember to pray for all HIV/AIDS patients and their relatives; they need us more than ever before and I believe God will reward you hugely in Jesus name.  Amen.

Finally, let me commit you into God’s hands as I wish you a month of divine solution.
