Why Won’t You Prosper?

In 3 John 2, Apostle John said:

‘’Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things ….’’.

Prosperity as a subject is regularly and passionately discussed in Christendom.  It tickles many people’s fancy and nobody can blame them since God himself wants everyone to prosper.  The Psalmist attests to this fact in Psalm 35:27 when he said:

‘’Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, “Let the LORD be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”

Contrary to some people’s belief, to prosper does not connote the ability to pile up money alone.  More importantly, it connotes being able to flourish, succeed, do well or get on in all facets of life such as health, work, ministry, family and security amongst many others.  I am happy to state here that there are promises of prosperity in respect of each of these areas in the bible but we shall focus on just three of them today.  God wants us to prosper in our:

1.  Health.  Material comfort without good health amounts to nothing.  Now, if we stretch Apostle John’s declaration in 3 John 2 a little bit further, we will observe that he gave prominence to health.  Let us see how he presented his position.

‘’Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health …’’.

No wonder that God concentrates on boosting people’s health through Jesus Christ all the time.  So, if your health is imperfect these days, know that the situation is not from God.  Therefore, seize the opportunity today to ask him to prosper you in health and he will in Jesus name.  Amen.

2.  Work.  God wants all of us to work and earn decent wages so that we can take care of ourselves, our family members, his church et cetera.  He doesn’t want us to be a burden to anybody (2 Thessalonians 3:7, 8, 10).  I am therefore not surprised at his candid assurance of prosperity as it concerns our work.  In Jeremiah 31:16 he said:

“Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded….’’.

That is, our work is bound to prosper.  Please, do not worry if the state of your work is not very impressive at the moment.  The fact is, prosperity is coming your way very soon and it will impinge on your work in Jesus name.  Amen.

3.   Security.  God is unequivocally interested in the security of our lives and properties.  This is made very clear in Psalm 91:11 (Amplified bible) as follows:

‘’For he will give his angels charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways’’.

From the passage above, we can safely conclude that our security is rock solid with God.  Are you or/and somebody close to you feeling vulnerable in any area of your lives at the moment? If yes, then ask God to amplify your security in the area and he will concur in Jesus name.  Amen.

At this point, let me mention that you cannot possibly prosper if you do not do the right things first.  To begin with, you must accept Jesus Christ into your life as your personal Lord and Savior.  If you haven’t done this before, then do so straight away.  Next, you must ensure that you confess your sins constantly and flee from them with unreserved determination.  King Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived, made it clear in Proverbs 28:13a that un-confessed sins and prosperity cannot go hand in hand when he said:

’’He who covers his sins will not prosper’’.

Once you have satisfied the requirements above then, the next question to ask will be; why won’t you prosper? Definitely there is no reason why you won’t.  By the grace of God you will prosper and your joy will be full.  So shall it be in Jesus name.  Amen.

Jesus is Lord!
