Somebody close to me visited his native home from his overseas base recently. But, shortly before then, he got a message that his mother was very ill, and about to die. Of course he was rattled, so, he resolved to go home promptly and take care of her. However, he had lack of funds to contend with.
After appraising the situation on ground closely, he knew he had to work very hard for several months, to garner enough funds for his trip. Meanwhile, by law, he was only allowed to work now and again at that time. One day, he was instructed in the Spirit to work in a home for physically challenged people almost for nothing, instead of the better paying job that he preferred. He wasn’t happy with the instruction, but, he complied with it to honor God anyway.
As he was taking care of one of his clients that day, a damning voice calling him foul names for jettisoning the better paying job for a ‘worthless’ one like he was on came into his mind. He felt really bad, but, Galatians 6:9 popped up in his mind almost immediately to encourage him. It says: “…let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart”. Instantly, he knew he had the support of God, and he pushed on with great joy.
Agreed, he went home at the end of the day with a smaller amount of money, compared to what he would have made had he gone for the other job, but, he was happy that he obeyed God, and helped some people in need. He believed God would reward his good deeds at some point.
Two days later, he got a call from his bank informing him that a check on his account revealed an error, which had gone on for about five years. The caller apologized and awarded him a generous payback, nearly equal to what he would have earned from the so called ‘better paying’ job in one year. With the money, he travelled home in a short time, took care of his mother, helped others, and settled himself. To cut a long story short, God rewarded his good deeds lavishly!
Today, I am presenting the same God to you. He is able to “…do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). You may have done many good deeds before without anybody noticing or rewarding you, please, don’t give up, because you are doing the right thing (Ephesians 4:32). You may also take a look at Galatians 6:9 again for comfort.
Friend, please keep doing good and keep trusting God (Psalm 37:3); He will not forget your good deeds (Hebrews 6:10), and before long, the book of records will be revisited, and your good deeds brought up and rewarded (Esther 6: 1-11). And as part of your reward, God will prosper the work of your hands (Deuteronomy 30:9), open doors of opportunities for you (Isaiah 22:22), and give you the power to do great things (Jeremiah 1:10).
And among other matters, He will promote you (Psalm 75:6-7), bless and multiply you (Hebrews 6:13-14), and give you favor from every angle (Proverbs 3:4). And if you are not yet married, get set for a smashing spouse (Psalm 84:11) and choice children in good time (Psalm 127:3). Finally, on top of everything, God will bless you with a place in Heaven when your time on earth is up (Matthew 25: 31-40), in Jesus name. Amen.
Jesus is Lord!
