Proverbs 3:5 says: ”Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”. This is a well-known bible passage, which admonishes folks to trust the Lord unconditionally, and it was authored by the wise King Solomon, having realised the benefits of trusting the Lord in his life, and in his lineage. I am doing this write-up, titled ‘The Reasons for Trusting God’, first of all, as a follow up to the one that I did some time ago. It was titled ‘The Benefits of Trusting God’! And from the feedbacks reaching us, it helped many people, and I wish to recommend it to you as well. You can access it on our website, by clicking the following link: http://
So, why should we trust God, you may wish to ask at this point? Well there are many reasons why we should, but we shall take a few of them right now, because of time and space constraints. They are:
1. To please Him.
The only way to please God, and reap abundant rewards from Him is to have faith (trust) in Him. Hebrews 11:6 confirms this point, as follows: ‘‘But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”. Therefore, if you truly want to reap bountiful rewards from God, then make it a point of duty to trust Him henceforth.
2. Because it is a divine command.
Proverbs 3:5-6 starts with: ”Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”. This is a divine order; which if complied with, will prompt God to direct your paths in the direction of success.
3. Because His credentials are very impressive.
Please recall that God is Omniscient (Psalm 147:5), Omnipotent (Revelation 19:6), Omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-12), Infinite (1 Timothy 1:17), Just (Acts 17:31), Loving (Ephesians 2:4-5), Truthful (John 14:6), Holy (1 John 1:5), Compassionate (2 Corinthians 1:3), Full of Grace (Romans 5:17), Forgiving (Psalm 130:4), etc. With this type of impressive credentials, we should be very comfortable to trust Him again and again, now, and in future. What do you reckon?
4. Because His reputation is unblemished.
God has an unblemished reputation, and the bible verifies this view in Numbers 23:19, as follows: ”God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? So, if He has an unblemished reputation, then why should we not trust Him?
5. Because He is eternal.
God is eternal! That is, He will live forever! Revelation 4:9 validates His eternal nature like this: ”Whenever the living creatures give glory, honour and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever”. Afore-stated means, He will always be available to fulfil His promises to us. If He hasn’t fulfilled them yet, that doesn’t mean He is dead; He is alive; He cannot die; and when there is life, there is certainly hope. This is another very credible reason why we should trust Him without qualms.
Friends, this same God has promised to wage war against your enemies (Isaiah 49:25), to bless you (Genesis 22:17), and the work of your hands (Deuteronomy 28:12). Furthermore, He has promised to save you (Jeremiah 15:21), give you rest from your daily hassles (Matthew 11:28), and eternal life in Heaven (John 10:28). Are you prepared to accept His life transforming promises? And are you ready to appropriate huge benefits that include Divine Confidence, Divine Direction, Divine Strength, Divine Victory, Divine Deliverance, and Divine Peace from Him? If you do, then be prepared to trust Him in all ways, for all things, and at all times, and it shall be well with you in Jesus name, amen.
Jesus is Lord!
