About God (18)

God is a warrior, and He wants all of us to be warriors too. That is why He has graciously equipped us with first-class tools of war (or what I call Christian War Tools) to fight and subdue our enemies; His enemies. These tools include the Human Tongue, Fasting and Prayer, the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, the Blood of Jesus, and the Name of Jesus. If you truly desire to use them profitably, and you want God to fight and win your wars for you, then be ready to align yourself with Jesus Christ, His son, first. That is, you must be born again! Are you born again? If you are, fine! But, if you are not, then do something about your status today; invite Him (Jesus Christ) to take over your life as your personal Lord and Saviour; He will not snub you (John 6:37).

About God (17)

In many climes, Christians are unduly and ceaselessly being persecuted, rendered homeless, denied of their basic human rights, stripped of their citizenship, raped, maimed, and even killed. And this state of affairs has made several people to wonder if it really makes any sense to follow God, who according to them is “either unwilling, or simply incapable” of defending them.

The plain truth is that it makes a lot of sense to follow God at all times. If we forsake Him, He will forsake us as well (2 Chronicles 15:2); and we will be the ultimate losers. It is also in our best interest not to forsake His son, Jesus Christ, because we cannot possibly go far without Him: “… without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Jesus Christ is also the gate-way to God: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). So, head or tail, we cannot afford to forsake God and His son, Jesus Christ.

About God (16)

All committed Christians are Soldiers, i.e. Soldiers of God, otherwise known as Soldiers of Christ or Soldiers of the Cross. And if we want to be effective and safe in battles, then we must be ready to undergo regular, well-reasoned, and rigorous training programs, which in most cases involves a good measure of hardship. This becomes very crucial because our situation is more precarious than that of our earthly counterparts. While their enemies are largely visible, ours are not! Ours are also very fierce, and ruinous in nature (Ephesians 6:12).

But thank God that we are well armed with very deadly and highly precise weapons to deal with all incursions from our enemies (Corinthians 10:4-5). We can deploy the weapons at any time, however, we need to be properly trained, highly disciplined, and well-motivated like our earthly counterparts to skilfully use them. In that case, a measure of hardship will always be a part of our lives.

As soldiers of God, we should always expect hardships, and be willing to endure them to the end. Apostle Paul encouraged us in this respect (2 Timothy 2:3)! And if we do so successfully, we will receive a crown of life, which is an unbeatable and magnificent reward (Revelation 2:10).

About God (15)

I once read about a Tanzanian athlete who caught the attention of the whole world in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. He took part in the 26 miles marathon race, but, came last! He was very tired, and in obvious discomfort toward the end of the race, but he refused to give up. Instead, he pressed on regardless till he reached the finish line around 7.00 p.m., when the stadium was virtually empty. And the few spectators that remained in the stadium at that time were spellbound by his raw determination to finish the race, and they rose up in unison, and applauded him enthusiastically. By his action, the athlete drew good attention to himself and his country, and gained the applause of an appreciative world.

Immediately after the race, a journalist asked him why he did not abandon it, since he was tired and injured, and had no chance of winning it anyway. And his succinct, but patriotic response was, “My country did not send me 7000 miles to start the race but sent me 7000 miles to finish it.” That is, he was not content with beginning the race alone; he was also determined to finish it, and he did so gloriously.

This should be the attitude of everyone to the races of life, including the Christian race. Not only should we begin them, we should make every effort to finish them very well as well. Today, the winner of that particular race has been forgotten, but, the action of that courageous African athlete is still firmly engraved in the minds of those who witnessed his moment of glory.

May the good Lord help us to finish our individual Christian race on earth very well, and afterwards, may we be good enough to earn our places with Him in Heaven, in Jesus name. Amen.

About God (14)

A person is said to be powerful in a particular field or thing, if he or she is very strong, matchless, or outstanding in it, and the world is/was full of such men and women. Examples include: Nelson Mandela, who was powerful in the field of Human Rights and Dignity, Abraham Lincoln (Politics), William Shakespeare (Literature), Pythagoras (Mathematics), Isaac Newton (Physics), Michael Faraday (Chemistry), Ronald Ross (Medicine), Lord Denning (Law), Adam Smith (Economics), Michael Jackson (Music), and Mohammed Ali (Sports). These personalities are/were powerful in their chosen fields, but none of them is powerful in any field outside theirs. That means they are/were restricted in their powerfulness.

But God is not restricted in anyway, i.e., He is powerful in all fields at the same time. That is why He is called the All-Powerful God. For example, He is powerful in Medicine; He performed the first surgical operation in history (Genesis 2:21), and He is adept at healing all diseases (Exodus 15:26). He is also powerful in Law; He formulated the Ten Commandments (Deuteronomy 5:6-22), which form the foundation of all earthly laws to date. He is powerful in agriculture; He owns all the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and He is powerful at executing wars (Psalm 24:8), etc. You can count on Him at all times to help you out of any untoward situation you might find yourself, and you will not be disappointed.

About God (13)

If the President of the United States of America, the world’s most visible and most powerful personality can hold God in the highest esteem, and consider Him as being real, then nothing stops us from pausing at least a little bit, to examine his opinion about God. That we have not seen Him in person before is not enough reason to doubt His existence. Besides, there are several physical evidences of His good works all over the place for all to see, and to prove that indeed, He is real.

About God (12)

Seeking the Kingdom of God in Heaven at this moment is a very strategic and sensible thing to do, since it will be our final home someday. It is a place of genuine rest and eternal joy, and it is devoid of anxiety, lack, hunger, weeping, pain, and sorrow (Revelation 7:16-17). Please, let us work very hard to seek the Kingdom of God before anything else now, because it will pay off in the end.

But, be informed that Satan does not want us to make it to Heaven. And that is why he works assiduously, day and night, and day after day, making sure that the cares of the world supersedes the desire of many for the Kingdom of God. It is, therefore, our responsibility to resist him vigorously with all things, in all ways and at all times, and he will flee from us: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).
