“And it shall come to pass afterward, That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28)
Ruby, not the real name, was 92 years old when I met her for the first time on professional ground. Though advanced in age, she was in total control of her life, and she loved God and humanity dearly!
As I was leaving her residence one Sunday morning, she noticed I was singing a Christian hymn, and she asked if she could join me, and I said yes. She later told me she was a devoted Christian but had stopped going to church owing to the effects of old age on her. We spent a short but memorable time together that day, singing, praying, and praising the name of the Lord together. We met several times afterward!
One afternoon, I went to her residence, and someone told me Ruby was very ill and about to die. So, I quickly ran to her room and found out that although unwell and weak, she was heartily discussing her imminent transition to Heaven with her relatives. She also said many exciting things about Heaven, as revealed to her in a dream, some of which I will like to share with you at this point, trusting that they will motivate you to work harder towards getting there.
She confirmed that Heaven is a superb place (Revelation 21:9-21), where everything seems new (Revelation 21:1-2). Also, she verified that it is inhabited by joyful people (Psalm 16:11), just worshipping the Lord (Nehemiah 9:6). Likewise, Ruby said it is devoid of death, sorrow, crying, and pain (Revelation 21:4), and that people live in their own beautiful personal houses there. She also disclosed that she saw her Heavenly mansion, ready and waiting for her habitation (John 14:2-3).
Moreover, Ruby, said she saw many people, new arrivals, streaming into Heaven, rejoicing and being congratulated by those who are already there. Not only that, she said she saw some of her deceased Christian friends, looking very happy, healthy, and settled.
At a point, her daughter told her I was around, and she opened her eyes, held my hand firmly, and with a lovely smile, said, “Adedayo, thank you for being a part of my journey on earth. I am going home very soon; I have seen the place, it is beautiful, and I look forward to seeing you there one day”. And not very long after talking to me, she slept and never woke up again. That is, my friend, Ruby, died!
Friend, I believe God gave Ruby a glimpse of Heaven to remind us that it is real, stunning, and attainable (John 14:1-3). But we can only get there if we are born again (John 3:3). Are you born again? If you are not, please, do so without delay. Then, among other things, work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12), be close to the body of Christ (Hebrews 10:24-25), and stand firm to the end (1 Corinthians 10:12).
What’s more, study the word of God avidly (Joshua 1:8), pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and focus your attention on Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:2). By the grace of God, you will make it to Heaven when your journey on earth is over, like my friend Ruby, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Jesus is Lord!
