Famine can be seen as the “extreme and general scarcity of food, as in a country or a large geographical area’’. It is often caused by war, natural disaster, and very harsh weather condition. But, crop failure, food distribution problem, over population, and bad governance, has been associated with it in the past.
All the continents of the world have experienced famine at one time or the other before. However, it seems sub-Sahara Africa have been mostly affected; Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Namibia, Senegal, Gambia, Niger, Mauritania, Mali, and Burkina Faso being badly affected recently. Famine frequently causes malnutrition, starvation, diseases, epidemic, and death. But, one good thing about them is that they don’t last forever. They usually abate with the coming of adequate rain.
Figurative ‘famine situations’ does occur in people’s lives too. They are the ones that slow down, halt, or completely reverse people’s progress and wellbeing. They make their lives very painful, frustrating, tough, and boring. Besides, they can kill if care is not taken! They include ill-health, joblessness, messy family set up, divorce, lack of support, cruel governments and their policies, and life without Jesus Christ. Again, like their natural counterpart, they don’t last forever! They too usually abate as soon as God rains down His solutions on them.
Friend, are you experiencing a ‘famine situation’ in your life at present? If you do, then I have good news for you! Its end is in sight; change is about to happen; rain is coming! Rain of healing is coming, and you will be healed. Rain of job is coming; and you will be gainfully employed. Your broken marriage will soon be restored, because rain of restoration is coming.
Rain of help is coming; and helpers of destiny will look for you; God will help you (Isaiah 41:10). Are you due for marriage, but still single? If you are then, rejoice greatly, because the best spouse for you will emerge shortly (Psalm 84:11); rain is coming. Rain of Children is coming (Psalm 127:3); and childlessness will soon become a thing of the past in your life. Are you presently living your life without Jesus Christ, hence in crisis? If you do, then cheer up; Jesus is around the corner to save you (Revelation 3:20); rain is coming!
Friend, the coming rain is going to be very huge (Joel 2:23)! But, you have to believe that God will send it down, and that it will remove your ‘famine situation(s)’ once and for all. And trust me, it will, and you will not be put to shame (Romans 10:11) in Jesus name. Amen. Please remember that “…all things are possible to him who believes’’ (Mark 9:23)! Hallelujah!
Jesus is Lord!
